Based on Budget
Check out all of our Sample Rings made in sterling silver with cubic zirconian (fake diamonds).  These rings act as a starting point and become the basis for a new ring that is created especially for you, to suit your style and budget.

Get Inspired
If you are not sure what you want, but know that you would like to choose something unique and support local talent, come take a look at our Designer portfolios.  View all  the custom designs that our jewellers have created for clients in the past.  Pick a designer and meet in person to take the project to the next level.

Pick a Stone
If you would like to surprise your partner but are unsure about having something custom made without their input, why not surprise them with a stone?  We will provide you with some lovely stone options based on your specifications, to help you choose.  Present the stone and then visit the gallery together to decide on the final ring design.

Grandma’s Ring
Have you inherited a piece of jewellery that you would like to have turned into something new?  We can take your stones out of their old settings and give them new life in a design that is just right for you.

An Eye for Design
Perhaps you have your own idea that you would like to bring to life. Maybe you are a designer yourself and would like to have a one-of-a-kind concept executed.  Bring us a drawing or tell us what you are thinking.  We will work with you in collaboration to make a ring designed by you.

“As Seen In”
Have you seen something on-line or in a magazine or book that you would like to have made?   We will not copy someone else’s design, but we will gladly take inspiration from your images and make something new for you.  Providing us with images really helps to describe your style and it is an excellent way for us to get started in the design process.
Bridal Jewellery
We have a wide selection of bridal jewellery available in our stores.  Minor or major alterations can be made to the bridal pieces to suit your needs.  Bring in your magazine clippings and tell us what you want. Bring in your fabric swatches so we can match the colours.  Bridal pieces can be made for you and your bridal party to suit your style and budget.
Jewellery can be borrowed for  a maximum of  2 days to be tried on with your outfit.  We have a change room available for trying on your outfit in the store. Let us help you find the right piece. Other wedding accessories include hair pieces, custom cufflinks or money clips for men and magnets or pins for the guests.

Custom Design Process – Facts and Information

Turn-Around
Our designers need between 2 and 6 weeks to complete a project.  If we are sourcing something rare or doing extensive research, then more time may be requested.

Bridging the Gap
We understand that in some cases the custom design process can be a leap of faith.  We have a  hands-on approach to custom design and in every case make our best attempt to ensure that you feel comfortable at each stage.  When making the decision to have something custom made, you need to ask yourself if you think you are a person who is well suited for this type of order.  Have you ever had a couch re-upholstered based on a  fabric swatch?  Have you ever had custom clothing made for a formal event?  How were those experiences for you?  Remember that not everyone is a good candidate for custom design.

Designer meetings and Quotes
Meet with one of our designers in our private client meeting room.  Appointments are available by request and can be made outside of our regular business hours. Your quote will include 1-2 client meetings, 3-5 drawings and 1 wax model.  Once you receive your quote, the estimate will be valid for 2 weeks, due to the fluctuating price of gold.

Money Talks
Knowing your budget is an important part of the custom design process.  There are numerous variables that go into creating an estimate for you.  Knowing where your priorities are is very helpful.  The majority of our clients tends to invest more money in the design of the piece and stone quality and would rather save money on the metal component….for example.  Our goal is to bridge the gap between design expectations and budget limitations.
Bargain Hunters
We guarantee to make your dollar go as far as it can go.  By shopping at Made You Look you are going directly to the source and you are dealing with  fewer middle men than in a normal retail setting.  If you have found a piece of jewellery that you like that exists already, don’t email us asking if we can make that exact piece for less money.  The answer is no.  Our specialty is in making jewellery that doesn’t already exist.

I’m melting…
Do you have old metal that you would like use to make something new? Here is how we can help. Using your old metal to create something new is an extremely labour-intensive process and you will actually spend more money using your old metal than you would if we just started with new metal.   The only time it makes sense is if there is sentimental value associated with the old metal and it is important enough to you to have the old metal in the new creation.   If you are simply trying to turn your old metal into cash, then we can have the metal recycled for you.  For a small service charge we can turn your metal into cash, and you can use the cash towards having a custom piece of jewellery made.  We only provide this service for someone who will be commissioning a new piece of jewellery.

Late for an important date?

Additional charges may apply for rush orders.   If a designer has to work outside of their “comfort zone” or if other clients' projects need to be pushed back to make room for a rush job a rush order charge may be added.
